If you have a dream, big or small, that’s been tugging on your heart–or if you’ve allowed your fears to get in the way of you showing up fully in the world–this episode is for YOU.
Brooke White is a musician and a mother of two. She has recorded eight albums with a ninth coming out in early 2019. Brooke got her “big break” when she appeared in season 7 of American Idol and finished in the Top 5. In the midst of this success, when the world saw a beautiful young woman with talent and fame, Brooke faced debilitating anxiety and fears that she wasn’t good enough.
In our conversation today, we discuss…
- how Brooke faced harsh criticism in a very public review in a LA music magazine (she reads it aloud on this episode!)
- how Brooke made a big mistake in front of 40 million viewers on American Idol
- how Brooke survived those moments, and many others that have come before and after, and has continued to pursue music with a self-confidence rooted in love, faith, and gratitude
In this episode, Brooke and I laugh, we tell stories, and yes, we sing. Well, Brooke does. 😉 You don’t want to miss this truly unique and inspiring episode of 3 in 30.

In the busiest seasons of motherhood, it can feel like we have NO time for our own goals and personal development. This week’s guest, Mary Jenkins, has some advice for how we can fit it in! Mary is a mother of two, a social media marketer, and a graduate student. She is passionate about self development and making it manageable for busy mothers. Don’t miss her “3 Ps” of personal development for mamas (and we actually add a 4th as we talk during the episode)!

When her mother was dying of Alzheimers, April Perry felt an urgency to write a book about her–to capture in words the beautiful memories and lessons of her life.
Each Thursday, she would spend the day with her mom and dad, and she would read them the latest chapter from her book, reliving with them how much her mother had shaped her. April says those Thursdays were some of the most sacred days of her life.
Today on the podcast, we will talk about three chapters from April’s book, which capture lessons about how to connect with our kids during everyday moments.
This episode will remind you that you don’t need to do more as a mother–you simply need to “lean in” to those mundane, everyday moments with your children that are actually making a profound difference to them.

If you’re like me, finding time and motivation to exercise has become difficult since becoming a mom.
If you’re not like me (ha!), you exercise almost daily, but it’s probably hard to find motivation to do some other things in your life.
Whatever camp you’re in, I think this episode will help you. Monica Tanner, a mother of four, a small business owner, and a podcaster at On the Brighter Side, shares three steps for finding motivation to exercise—and her tips can be applied in many other situations as well.
Listen in as she teaches me how to…
1) Start with a positive and believable thought about yourself.
2) Find your own compelling reason to exercise.
3) Make it enjoyable, so the habit will stick.
This is a great discussion with so many nuggets of wisdom. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

A few years ago, I had a phone conversation with a friend that changed my perspective forever. She told me why she never feels mom-guilt. And I loved her wisdom and think of it often.
Listen to this week’s episode to hear her advice, as well as three strategies that I use frequently when I feel the mom-guilt sneaking in:
1) List all of the blessings that your kids have in their lives, from you and others.
2) Reject “filtered-thinking.” Zoom out so you can see the big-picture of yourself and your kids’ lives.
3) Examine whether your guilt is beckoning you higher, or dragging you down lower.
