144: Make Over your Morning Routines // Crystal Paine of Money Saving Mom

Morning routines for moms can sometimes seem laughable.Ā

A routine? Like, you mean, cleaning up the eggs spilled on the kitchen floor and I hope to be out of my pajamas by noon? That kind of a routine? šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

As summer draws to a close and school starts back up, I’m craving some rhythms and routines! I don’t know about you, but mornings in our house have turned into a bit of a free-for-all with screen time too early in the day, pajamas too late in the day, and just a general lack of structure for the kids and for me.Ā

I could use a makeover of my mornings right about now. Could you?

If you’re feeling the need for a bit more structure, you’re going to love my conversation with Crystal Paine. Crystal has years of experience encouraging women to be intentional when it comes to finance, family, and business. She is a mother, entrepreneur, blogger, and New York Times best-selling author.Ā

In this conversation, Crystal explains how deliberate mornings have been a major key to her success.

Let’s jump in!

3 Tips for Morning Routines for Moms

1. Serve your tomorrow self.Ā

What can you do the night before to set yourself up for success the next day? Make a list of to-dos, lay out your clothes, get kids’ stuff packed and ready by the door, or even try going to bed earlier. 🤯 Your future self will thank you for any effort you give ahead of time!

2. Put the big rocks in first.Ā

Prioritize the morning activities that will fuel your day and get the momentum going in the right direction. Often these activities aren’t ā€œurgent,ā€ but this doesn’t mean they’re not important. In fact, they are actually more important than the urgent things. Things like connecting with your children, connecting with God, exercising, working a bit on your business, or whetever long-term goals you have. Put these important things in first and let the other stuff fall into place.Ā

3. Give yourself an incentive.Ā

Adults need rewards too, so include some exciting reinforcers as you are build a new morning habit. Maybe it’s having a little social media time while you drink your morning coffee, or watching a favorite TV show as you exercise, or playing your favorite music. Get creative and try to make it as fun as possible to get out of bed on time. Small incentives can go a long way in helping you stick to the routines you value.Ā
