494: Voice Your Values // The Back-to-School Check-In for Moms #1

So my kids are headed back to school soon and they will be doing all sorts of assessments to see how they're doing in math and reading and writing. And this got me thinking that I wanted to do a series of mini podcast episodes during this back to school season for moms to assess how they are doing - not with balancing equations or diagramming sentences, because I have a feeling most of us would fail those assessments, but to assess something way more important. And that's our own levels of emotional wellbeing.

And you may be thinking, is there an assessment for that? And I am glad to inform you that yes. Yes there is. A few years ago, I took everything I'd learned from interviewing over 300 experts in parenting and self-development and I boiled it down to six principles of self-assured motherhood. These were those common threads that I found between all of the experts work, and I realized that if we as overwhelmed moms could master these areas, we would have so much more joy, more connected relationships and more inner peace.

And so I put these six principles into a framework that I call the Self-Assured Motherhood 6 or the SAM6, and I created a self-assessment that overwhelmed moms could take that so they could concretely figure out how they're doing in each of the six areas--where they are struggling and where they are thriving and why.

So these six principles are going to be the basis for this back to school mini series that I'm starting today. And I wanted to make sure that you know that you can get access to that self-assessment by going to 3in30podcast.com/quiz to figure out how YOU are doing in each of the SAM6.

So about the mini series. Over the next two weeks, you are going to get some extra episodes from me! On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the next two weeks, I will be airing short podcast episodes where I am going to dive deep into each one of the Self-Assured Motherhood principles. I'm going to be sharing some personal stories and insights to help you to better understand each area, and I hope that this mini-series will help you to feel more joyful, connected, and confident in your relationships and in our motherhood. So as your kids are going back to school and getting assessed on how they're doing academically, I hope that you'll follow along with this fun back-to- school series for moms to assess how you are doing emotionally.

And in this first episode of the series, we're going to be talking all about values. What they are and why they matter for moms. This is probably my favorite principle to talk about in my entire SAM framework, which is why I put it first. It is that foundational.

IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL HEAR:

  • The two dictionary definitions of "values," and which definition we're talking about here.
  • The five cards my husband handed me during a values activity at a couples retreat, because they explained a dream of his that had been a mystery to me for years.
  • The green, yellow, and red definitions I read straight from my workbook, so you can figure out which one describes you right now.
I would absolutely love to help you get clear on what your unique values are in my Self-Assured Motherhood Program, which will be opening for enrollment on September 14. So if you're interested in learning more, just make sure you take the self-assessment quiz, which will also put you on the info list to learn more about the program when it opens for enrollment. I would truly love to have you join me and the SAM sisters.
