Boundaries have become a hot topic and a bit of a buzzword in today's culture, so I want to start by taking us back to a simple definition and understanding of what boundaries are and also what they are not. Boundaries are simply what you will do. Not what you expect others to do, what you will do to honor your needs.
So setting boundaries doesn't mean controlling other people or dominating them, or even a protect-yourself-above-all-others mentality. It simply means giving an honest, "no" instead of a dishonest or resentful "yes."
IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL HEAR:
- A recording I made by accident a few weeks ago that I decided to play for you, even though it is not my finest moment as a mom
- The image a counselor gave me years ago that I come back to every single time I feel guilty about holding a limit
- The sign I'm putting on my office door to help me, and what I'll do the first time on of my kids ignores it
I hope you'll join us in my Self-Assured Motherhood Program because women at the end of my program are often delighted to report to me how feel so confident setting boundaries. And that's because I've taught them how to verbalize boundaries in a loving way that actually strengthens relationships.
If you want to dive deeper, be sure to take my free online assessment at 3in30podcast.com/quiz where you can see how you are personally doing in each of the six areas of Self-Assured Motherhood.
