Creating and changing our habits often feels anything BUT “easy as A-B-C.” If you’re like me, you have spent years thinking about habits you’d like to change or create, and yet everything you try doesn’t seem to stick.
Nothing is quite as discouraging and undermining of your self confidence than struggling with the same poor habits and “lack of discipline” year after year after year.
That is why I am incredibly grateful to have habit experts and humanity cheerleader Dr. BJ Fogg on the podcast today. BJ teaches at Stanford and the founder of the Stanford Behavior Design Lab. He’s studied human behavior for over 25 years and coached over 40,000 on his innovative framework called Tiny Habits. He is also the author of the NYT bestselling book, Tiny Habits: The Small Changes that Change Everything.
BJ believes that through the Tiny Habits framework, it really can be as easy as ABC to create our own good habits, as well as to help our children design and master theirs. It’s such an honor to have this world-renowned expert on the podcast.
3 Takeaways for Habit Formation
1) A is for Anchor: Identify a Reliable Anchor from the routines in your daily life.
2) B is for Behavior: Attach a Tiny Behavior that you’d like to make a habit.
3) C is for Celebrate: Reinforce that new habit with a Small Celebration, like saying, “I’m awesome!”
