Just like the miner learned in this story, sometimes in motherhood, you have to look for “flecks of gold”—those tiny, beautiful moments that get you through all of the hard stuff.

When I was in an extremely difficult season of motherhood, I decided to start giving more weight to the beautiful moments in my days by writing them down. Each night, I journaled about one “fleck of gold” that I had noticed that day–a funny comment from my daughter, a perfect sunset on a family walk, or an unexpectedly meaningful conversation with my son at bedtime.

During even the hardest days, if I could find one fleck of gold, it felt like enough. And over time, my flecks accumulated and became a rich and steadying anchor to me during the ups and downs of motherhood.
