Sometimes the power struggle we most need to let g Sometimes the power struggle we most need to let go of isn’t with our kids at all, but with ourselves. 😅

One of my favorite stories from this week’s @3in30podcast episode is about a freezing, miserable family ski day. Denaye and her family had driven an hour and a half to get to the mountain, and after the kids’ lesson, everyone was cold, exhausted, and ready to go home (including her!). But because she’d already said they were going to ski as a family, part of her wanted to dig in her heels and make it happen anyway.

When they finally looked at each other and admitted that nobody was having fun, they went home, and everyone was so much happier.

It’s the same question from the slides, just turned inward: is this really a problem, or is it just not the way I planned it? So many of our standoffs, with our teens and with ourselves, come down to holding onto a plan or a rule simply because we said it, and when we’re willing to pivot, we show our kids that changing your mind isn’t losing.

Denaye’s wisdom is some of the most helpful I’ve heard for navigating power struggles with kids of any age, from toddlers to teens.

“Memories are the database of self-esteem.” 🧠 Whe “Memories are the database of self-esteem.” 🧠

When I read that line in Dr. Marisa G. Franco’s @drmarisagfranco new book, it hit me hard. So many of us try to talk ourselves into feeling worthy, forcing ourselves to be okay without ever touching the memories that taught us we weren’t. (Marisa admits this was her approach for a long time, too!)

Marisa explains that low self-esteem is really a theory we’ve formed about ourselves based on our past experiences.

The hopeful part is that the theory can change. And healing doesn’t mean pretending those memories didn’t hurt. As Marisa put it, the true work of worth is letting what’s real be real, because only then can you offer yourself the support you need.

If you’ve been carrying a belief that you’ll always struggle with self-worth, I hope you’ll give this episode a listen.

Nine years ago, Monica and I were already talking Nine years ago, Monica and I were already talking about how being a mom isn’t the only thing we have to be (you can see it right there in our comments!), and this conference feels like her answer to that question. 💜

I have watched Monica pour her whole heart into helping moms feel like themselves again, from her podcast About Progress to her new book, Sticky Habits, and now this conference that brings together 25 experts who teach on everything from sleep and self-talk to hobbies, money, and making dinner fun again.

My favorite part is that it’s designed for real, busy moms. You don’t have to watch all 25 sessions (there’s definitely no quiz!), so you can pick the topics that would help you most right now and listen while you drive, walk, or fold laundry.

The Basic Pass is completely free for the week, and if you want lifetime access to the recordings, the All-Access Pass comes with a private workshop with Monica and a hardback copy of Sticky Habits if you sign up by October 4th.

If you’ve been going back and forth about SAM this If you’ve been going back and forth about SAM this week, today is the day to decide, because enrollment closes tonight!

I know this is a big decision (it’s a real investment of your money, your time, and your energy, and I never take that lightly). So I want to be clear about what SAM is and what it isn’t:

SAM isn’t about fixing you, because you’re not broken and you’re not doing motherhood wrong. It’s about getting to know yourself so well, including your values, your strengths, and your needs, that you can stop second-guessing yourself so much and start enjoying the mom you already are.

I hope you’ll join us!

Comment ✨SAM✨ and I’ll send you the link to enroll. If you have questions, DM me or send me an email at hello@3in30podcast.com.

SAM is a real investment of your time and money, a SAM is a real investment of your time and money, and you want to know it will actually make a difference at home.

While I can’t promise that you’ll never lose your temper again, or that your kids will suddenly stop bickering or rolling their eyes. What I can promise is that you’ll come out of it knowing yourself so much better, and with a clearer sense of what fills you back up. And that will change how you show up for everyone else.

Because a happier mom really is a better mom. 💜

Enrollment closes tonight. Comment ✨SAM✨ and I’ll send you all the details.

How many of us can relate to this mom? I’m guessin How many of us can relate to this mom? I’m guessing it’s probably all of us. 💜

When she posted this in our SAM community, she apologized for oversharing, and then the SAM sisters showed up for her. There are 27 comments on that post, and they’re full of encouragement, practical ideas, hard-won wisdom from their own survival mode years with littles, and so much solidarity.

And this isn’t just for moms of littles. Moms with teens reach out about concerns. And so do moms of young adults! We are all in this together.

This is what I love most about SAM. My team and I are in there too, and we respond personally to posts. SAM is not a giant course that you muscle through alone. It’s a place where you can say the hard things out loud and have women who have been there show up for you.

If you’re craving that kind of community in your motherhood, comment SAM, and I’ll send you all the details to your DMs. Or find the link in my bio.
